Can you believe it's already Sunday? It's funny how Sundays often feel like the grand finale of the week, isn't it? For me, weekends are a bit of a whirlwind – filled with sessions and projects. But, I wouldn't have it any other way.

As I sit here, plunking away at my keyboard and sipping at my hot coffee in between paragraphs, I can't help but reflect on the incredible Bump To Baby Session I had the pleasure of capturing. Today, I'm thrilled to kick off this beautiful Sunday morning by sharing the stunning maternity session on the blog!

Let's talk about studio sessions – and let's talk shadows. There's something truly magical about playing with light and shadows in my studio, which, by the way, is painted black (a little unconventional, but I love it!).

Did you know that the word 'photography' literally means "drawing with light"? It's fascinating how words can encapsulate so much meaning. It's said that this term was coined way back in 1839 by Sir John Herschel, a British scientist. It's derived from the Greek words 'phos' (or 'phōtós') meaning "light", and 'graphê' which means "drawing or writing".

Look at us go! Learning things AND looking at beautiful photos at the same time! ✨

Can I just say, this maternity session was an absolute joy? Seriously, this couple exuded elegance and beauty in every frame, and the way they effortlessly complemented each other for their photoshoot was simply heartwarming. Mom? Oh, she was a vision of grace and beauty in every outfit she wore. And Dad? Well, let's just say he totally nailed it with his wardrobe choices, bringing a fantastic array of options to the shoot. Together, they were pure magic behind the lens!
When I think of maternity photoshoots, I think of the mamas I work with who are excitedly anticipating their photoshoot day. I have never had my own maternity photoshoot before (sad) but I can imagine that it's exciting and a little nerve-racking at the same time.
 
"Will I like the photos?" Yes - and the ones you don't, just leave them behind! Only buy the ones you LOVE!
 
"Will the photographer make me look good?" Duh... you already look good! And I'll prove it to you! (Short answer: yes!)
 
"What if I feel silly?" You might, but we will laugh together and those make the best moments! Some of the poses look natural in the camera but feel unnatural in real life (I got you!)

You know what's music to my ears at the end of every maternity photoshoot? Hearing those magical words: "That was so much fun!" It's always a joy to see the parents glowing with happiness, relieved and thrilled to have captured these precious moments.

Moms often admit to feeling a bit jittery beforehand, but once we dive in, it's like they're walking on air! Every moment becomes a cherished memory in the making. There's nothing quite like the anticipation of revealing the final photos. Seeing their reactions? It's what I live for! Can't wait to share in that excitement with you too. 📸✨

Working with this delightful couple was an absolute blast! I couldn't be more thrilled to have them back in a few weeks, this time with their precious little bundle for the newborn session. It's moments like these that make my heart sing!

WHEN SHOULD I BOOK MY MATERNITY SESSION?

✓ In advance. 

It is best to book your Maternity Session while you are in your second trimester. Your session will be scheduled for when you are between 28 to 34 weeks along in your pregnancy.

✓ Guaranteed scheduling. 

You can book your maternity session as early as you'd like for your maternity session to ensure your spot in my calendar. I only book a few sessions per month, so my calendar is flexible. This is helpful in the event of an unforeseen early induction or bad weather for outdoor sessions.
