Studio Newborn Session • Calgary Family & Newborn Photographer

Oaklynn • 17 Days New

Having a baby is, in itself, a HUGE new adjustment in life. But the arrival of baby Oaklynn was just one of the many big, new changes in this family's life over the last couple weeks. Within just a week or so after she was born, Oaklynn and her family also moved homes - but newborn photos still rang true as a true priority and I was happy to make the entire experience as easy as possible for them amidst all of these new and exciting things in this family's life. 

I couldn't wait to meet this baby girl! I had shot Hannah & Peter's Maternity Session and was just so excited to finally meet their little one. 

Beautiful baby Oaklynn was a perfect size and most relaxed little newborn girl. I had been waiting for what felt like forever to meet this little one, and yet at the same time, I couldn't believe that she was already here! 

Being a Newborn Photographer is my biggest passion. I absolutely love working with these tiny humans - they are such a nice way to start people! I am so focused on each and every session that time just flies by, and I love capturing all of those perfect details and styling the most adorable little setups for each little baby I am so lucky to meet. 

My newborn studio is located in NW Calgary, in the community of Evanston. While it may not be the biggest studio, it's certainly stocked full of everything I need for a successful session and it's one of my favourite places in the whole wide world - my creative haven!

I love inviting excited families into the studio with warm Starbucks coffee waiting, and snacks for the kids to nibble on while I get straight to work photographing the newest member of the family. We enjoy the giggles and interactions between siblings and their new siblings, and soak in all the cuddles for family photos. 

I consider myself so blessed to have been able to meet this beautiful family! They are the sweetest bunch, and I thoroughly enjoyed working with them and can't wait to see Oaklynn again next year for her Cake Smash! 

Now A Family of Four!

I love seeing the family snuggle down and get close for their family photos during a session. I focus on baby, with those beautiful, tender moments that will be bound to tug those heartstrings!

Simple Black & White

I never underestimate the power of a clean black and white photo! From mugshots to backlit, I just love a clean, simple portrait. (I love that we can see those toothless little gums - crying pictures are some of my favourite!)

Apples From The Same Tree

Yep - they're related! I love Ledger's BIG grin. You can see the pride beaming from his eyes. Little Oaklynn's sure got a good big brother to take care of her!

Newborns in Props

I love using different props for each session. Safety always comes first when it comes to posing baby in a prop! Believe it or not, one of these photos is not as it seems. Can you guess which one? And can you guess how it was done?

Princess and the Paci

I love that Oaklynn's paci was neutral coloured - I had to include it into a few shots and Mom loved them! Baby was so content just watching me, she had no problem letting me pose her. Such great variety of poses and setups with this kiddo.

I hope you enjoyed this beautiful gallery of Oaklynn's newborn photos. She was such a splendid baby and I absolutely love this family! I can't wait to see them again soon!

Justiena Sabastian - Hello, I am emailing you today to inquire about a newborn photoshoot. My baby was due to on Feb 13th, however, he wanted to meet his parents and big brother so badly that he decided to come early. I didn't have a chance to book anything prior to him coming, so I'm just wondering if you have any availability in mid Feb. I was hoping to do an in studio shoot. It would be myself, my husaband, my 15 month hold and my newborn. Do you by any chance allow dogs in studio? ' Please let me know. Thanks, Justiena Sabastian
