Calgary Family Photo Shoot • The Palacios Family

Airdrie | Cochrane | Strathmore | Chestermere | Central Alberta

 

For the last couple of years, this wonderful family has come to me for their annual family portraits, and we always have such a wonderful time! It's been an adventure watching their kids grow year after year, and their personalities never fail to have me bursting out in full belly laughs during our sessions. 

In the past, we have usually met during the most common time of the year to have family portraits done, which is the Fall. But, this year, they opted for something fun and different and took advantage of my Limited Edition (and popular!) Dirt Road Sessions. These are done in late July while the canola fields are in full bloom and the summer sunsets boast in all their golden glory.

The first time I photographed this family, it was the evening before my wedding. I remember Mom saying, "What are you doing here?! You should be getting ready!" 

Photography is my getaway. It doesn't matter how anxious or stressed I may be in my current life, the moment I have a camera in my hand and have a snuggly newborn or smiling family in front of me, everything else melts away. So, I hope this family didn't feel like they were taking me away from something important, because at that time it was likely exactly what I needed to just unwind for a little bit.

I swear, every year these kids grow 5 inches. I look back to when they were little toddlers toodling around in the grass, and giving me wary looks as most toddlers do. Now they are fully involved in their sessions, and run around saying "How about this? Take this picture!" and we have a wonderful time. 

Creating these friendships and relationships with my client is such a treat that comes along with all of the other rewarding treats I enjoy when it comes to family sessions. Getting to meet with the same families every year, and having stories that start with "Remember last time when..." that has us buckling over in laughter makes all of the experiences combined a true adventure. 

I can't help but smile, knowing that these sisters will look back at these pictures when they're older and say, "That was so much fun! I remember that!"

I am so thankful for this family. They've come to me since very early on in my photography career, and it's truly a huge blessing and gift that they've continued to come back year after year. I always look forward to seeing their faces, and they have a special place in the Hocus Focus Photography family. 

Wishing this family health and safety, and looking forward to many more fun and beautiful memories that they can enjoy for years to come.

It's easy to have a fun and safe session outdoors and capture those beautiful moments for you and your family members to cherish and revisit over and over again. 

I am now booking sessions for October 2020 - Family Sessions are seasonal and will be closed for booking on October 31, 2020 and will reopen again in April 2021.

Evan Mazur - I'm looking to book a family photoshoot. It would include my parents (2), my sister, her husband, and 2 year old boy (3), my brother and his girlfriend (2), and myself and my fiancée (2). A total of 9 of us. I don't have any solid dates yet, but I was looking to get a quote for an on location shoot. Thanks in advance.
