Riley's First Birthday Cake Smash Session • Calgary Family & Newborn Photographer

 

Riley came to me for his NEWBORN SESSION last year. It was immediately after his session that I checked my phone and saw the mandatory lockdown of all businesses, and I realized that it would be awhile before I would have anyone in my studio again. What a year it has certainly been! 

I was delighted when I was finally able to re-open my doors for business, and even more excited when Riley's mom booked him in for his One Year Cake Smash! I couldn't wait to see how much this little dude had grown. 

We did a nautical theme for his cake smash, and it turned out so adorable. He was a happy little guy. I think he had more fun smooshing his cake than actually eating it! He especially loved his bubble bath. I loved seeing the whole family again, and was happy to include the family for a family portrait before things got messy. 

Enjoy this adorably sweet Cake Smash Session! And Happy Birthday to Riley! Your life started with quite a crazy series of events, but you are surrounded by people who love you and it's been an honour to have been able to have you in the studio twice in the last 12 months!

Family members can jump in for a quick family photo before every cake smash! I love doing a few pre-smash portraits, as well, before things get messy.

Ready to Rumble

It's a whole new ball game once baby knows how to walk! When these birthday kiddos are able to walk by their first birthday, it's definitely a busy scene with lots of baby chasing, but it makes from some super cute shots.

What Is This?!

I cracked up while going through Riley's gallery - such a range of emotions! He wasn't quite sure what to think of the cake - to indulge, or not indulge. That is the question!

Bubble Bath Time!

Every cake smash wraps up with a bubble bath so that each baby goes home nice and clean. This is often baby's favourite part - they love to splash in the suds!

Cake Smashes are lots of fun and are such a fun and wonderful way to celebrate and remember that special first birthday! Parents can look forward to an easy and hassle-free experience. Everything is provided, and you can create your own custom collection out of the images captured during your baby's session so you can treasure and remember the moments forever! 

It is recommended to book your Cake Smash at least 2 months in advance; things to consider are whether you want to do the Cake Smash as close to your baby's actual birthday as possible, or if you want to have the photos ready and delivered in time to show off at a birthday party.
