I've decided that it's time for me to start blogging again. And even though this session is one that I've shot quite some time ago now, it's still worth sharing! With the Fall season right around the corner, I know that Calgary & Airdrie families will begin their hunt for a Family Photographer hoping to capture those gorgeous Autumn colours in their family portraits. And, I'm hoping that they find me! Becuase Fall is also my most favourite time of season to shoot outdoor sessions, and it always brings me so much joy to soak in all the beauty of Fall while making memories and creating portrait art for all of my wonderful clients.
I'm not really sure why I stopped blogging, because I truthfully love sharing the beautiful sessions I capture. I suppose, as many of us know and understand, life has a way of getting busy, and some things get pushed to the side.
Booking a photoshoot can be the same way! You have the good intentions of booking the session and getting it scheduled in the calendar. Yet somehow things keep popping up in life, and before you know it, time has flown by!
Don't get me wrong, it's important to keep up with the responsibilities of life. I know how it is. As a mom to 3 girls entering their teen years, I know how life can feel like it just keeps getting busier. At the same time... I'm realizing how quickly these years are going by! It feels like my kids grow and change on a daily basis. How can it feel like the days crawl by sometimes, but time seems to just evaporate at the same time?
The most precious thing in life that we all have is: time. And we only have so much of it!
I think that's one of the things I appreciate about photography so much. It's like the gift of a time machine in a way, capturing a real life moment to look back on. I think that's also why I've started to dislike AI so much.. creating moments that never actually existed. Don't get me wrong, AI has it's helpful quirks and usefulness. But, I think it's starting to steal away something very important to us...
The appreciation of real art and skill.
The ability to be amazed by something someone genuinely created out of love and effort.
Being able to appreciate a real moment instead of a fabricated one...
I genuinely miss the era we had before AI. Not because I'm afraid of it "stealing" my job. But, moreso because I miss when people marvelled over beautiful things that actually played out before our eyes and not something a computer decided to make up.
Maybe I'm going on a bit of a tangent here, but I think it's worth thinking about. It's a common topic these days, for sure. I'm hoping that maybe someone feels and understand what I'm talking about here. And yes, this blog is a little choppy and might be written in a way that would make an English teacher squirm. But... I wrote it myself without the help of ChatGPT so... for me, that's mean more than a perfectly articulated paragraph written by a robot. Just real me, sharing my thoughts and wanting to share real moments with real words with a very real audience: you. ❤️
As much as we love those Summer months, they are short here in the Calgary area. But, the opportunity is here to book that Fall Family Session before the long winter months arrive (as much as I hate to say it!)
Because of the short season, I have limited spots available. Session slots fill up quickly, so definitely don't wait until the last minute!
