Golden Hour Outdoor Family Photos with Grandparents at Baker Park, Calgary

It’s always an honour to photograph families, but there’s something extra special about capturing multiple generations together. This outdoor family session was filled with laughter, connection, and so much love. With grandparents from both sides present, two sweet young daughters, and parents who were long overdue for updated portraits, this session was the perfect blend of timeless and heartfelt. Set against the golden light of a summer evening, every moment felt meaningful—and I’m so excited to share a little peek into it.

It’s not every day I get to photograph an extended family session where both sets of grandparents are present—it was such a joy! On a warm summer evening, just as the sun began to dip into golden hour, I met this beautiful family outdoors for a session that was long overdue.

This was their first time having professional portraits taken in many years, and they were so excited to finally capture everyone together. The two daughters brought such sweet energy to the shoot, and we made sure to document all the special combinations: the girls together, each child with their parents, full family shots, and tender moments with the grandparents. These are the portraits that become heirlooms.

The family chose me after falling in love with the consistency of my work and how natural and beautiful my images feel. The mother told me she already knew she wanted to book with me after seeing newborn and cake smash portraits I had done for a family member—what a huge compliment!

After the session, they selected a stunning large wall art piece of their favourite family portrait, as well as a custom-designed storyboard showcasing all the little moments they loved most. Once everything arrived, I had the pleasure of helping them hang the artwork in their home. Seeing it all come together on their wall—where it will bring joy every single day—was truly the cherry on top.

Sessions like these are such a reminder of the importance of preserving memories with the people we love. I’m so grateful to have played a small part in helping this family do just that.
