Nash's Studio Newborn Session

There was a time when, not that long ago, I met an extremely smiley and happy little baby. Her parents had brought her in for her first ever photoshoot and together we celebrated her first birthday!

VIEW CLARKE'S CAKE SMASH

Well, that smiley little baby is now a proud big sister to a new precious bundle of joy. A sweet baby brother by the name of Nash, and oh goodness was he ever a wonderful treat!

Unlike a cake smash session, which is fast and messy and loud, newborn sessions are longer, calmer, and soothing. They take a little more time with feeding, changing, burping, and posing babies. But they are so rewarding once all is shot and done.

I am done having babies. I am no longer in the part of my life where I am building a family. Our family is complete with my three beautiful girls and as the years continue to zip by (more and more quickly, it seems) the more I've come to appreciate the art of Newborn Photography.

Yes, it is an investment of both money and time. When I go into a session, I think about the future all while photographing the now with my clients' best interests in mind. My babies are not babies anymore. The teen years are fast approaching and I find myself wishing I could go back and spend more time and capture more memories of them when they were little. I did not understand, in those early years, just how much I would miss them. Regret is the only emotion there is no solution for. With this regret of mine in mind, I earnestly try to ensure that the clients who choose to make the investment in Newborn Photography never experience this. It's like that phrase, "if I knew back then what I know now" type of scenario.

I've said it before and I will say it again: I am continually thankful for the trust my client's place in me in capturing these memories for them. I strive to put my best foot forward every time. Not just in the quality of the photos, but in stitching together a seamless, easy, and stress-free experience for each and every one of them.

Fun fact: Did you know that I remember all of my newborn clients by name? It's true. You could say any client's name and I would remember the name of their baby and nearly exactly how the session went, and I can picture my favourite photos from their sessions in my head (and I have hundreds of clients!)

I am so thankful to have been blessed with the privilege of working with little Nash. I am so happy that his parents loved their first experience with me, and trusted that I would do a great job with their second little one's newborn photos. I hope you all have as much fun looking through this gallery as I do every time I flip through it!

Proud Big Sister • Newborn Sibling Photography

One of the things I like the most about these backlit images is how candid they are and the genuine moments they present to the camera. They are timeless, classic, and beautiful.

A New Baby Brother • Calgary Newborn Family Photographer

Another reason why I love backlit-styled images is that it gives little one's room to wiggle if they aren't feeling entirely up for laying down or holding their new sibling. That wasn't the case for this session, though!

Snuggles Galore • Calgary Newborn Photography Studio

Clarke was beyond excited to snuggle up to her new baby brother for their sibling portraits. She had so many different expressions, Mom & Dad had a hard time choosing a favourite (as did I!)

Parent photos are easily worked into my family posing workflow so that it is quick, seamless, and easy. While they may not always know it right away, eventually these portraits will become some of their favourites down the line!

Proud Parents • Newborn Photography in Calgary, Alberta

I love these snuggled-up images with Mom & Dad and their sweet baby boy. These moments are so tender and sweet. It doesn't matter how many families I've had come through my studio, these types of photos are always some of my favourites from a session!

Three Becomes Four • Calgary Family Photographer

That first family photo with your newest family member is a moment marking a milestone. It's quite an occasion, and taking advantage of and seizing that moment is something I wish I had done with each of my little ones. How special, indeed!

Newborn Posing • Calgary Newborn Photographer

Newborn posing is an art in itself. Gently coaxing these little ones into different poses requires patience and understanding. Little Nash was perfectly happy as long as he was warm. Just look at those delicious cheeks!

Newborn Baby Boy • Studio Newborn Photography YYC

How sweet is his face? I absolutely loved working with this little man. It's often said that baby boys don't get any of the cute props, but I beg to differ. I have such a variety of props in my studio that are absolutely perfect for these little dudes!

One of a Kind • Calgary Baby Photographer

No session is ever the same. I love having variety in my work and in my life to keep my perspective fresh and my inspiration going. There are endless possibilities (and so many cutes babies!) that I can't possibly get bored.

Newborn Session Information

  • When is the best time to book a newborn session?

If you are in your second trimester, it is the perfect time to book your newborn session. Only a few newborns are booked per month; these spots tend to fill quickly. On occasion, there may be a last-minute spot available but this is not guaranteed.

  • When is the best time to have my baby's photos done?

The best time to have your baby's photos done is within those first 10-21 days of life. Upon booking, your due date acts as your tentative booking. Once your baby arrives, we will schedule your baby's session according to their age. It may seem like this is early, but babies cooperate and do quite well during their sessions while they are still very fresh.

  • What do I need to bring to my newborn session?

Nothing! Absolutely everything is provided for you. There is no need to bring along anything extra other than yourselves, your diaper bag and your brand new bundle of joy.

  • Where are newborn sessions shot?

All of my newborn sessions take place in my Sherwood NW studio. It has absolutely everything you and your baby will need during your session, so you can relax and enjoy this experience completely stress-free.

  • How do I book my newborn session?

Everything starts with a conversation - contact the studio directly and we will personally give you all the information you need, from what to expect before, during and after your session and what it will cost. I only book a set number of sessions per month in order to ensure each client receives the experience they deserve. These spots fill quickly, so inquire at your earliest convenience. Once your session fee is paid, your date is secured.
